The pupils in P2 are getting very good at telling the teacher what to do! They have been learning about ‘directions’ in numeracy. It also helps to develop talking and listening skills.

Once Upon A Time

P1, 2 and 3 have been enjoying and exploring stories during their World Around Us time. They have been playing, building, dressing up and doing loads of experiments. It has been a lot of fun!

Record breaking jumping!

P6/7 put their measuring skills to use when they attempted to match the world record for the long jump. This record is held by Michael Powell from USA who jumped 8.95m in 1991. P6/7 recorded how many jumps it took them to reach 8.95m. The least number of jumps was 5.

Glider Challenge

P6/7 took part in a live stream workshop delivered by The Smallpeice Trust to promote STEM subjects. They had to design and build 3 gliders to travel as far as possible. There were lots of great designs and ideas but it was Harvey and Luke’s glider that travelled the furthest, travelling over 10 metres! Well done everyone!

Practical Perimeter

P6 used Multi-link cubes to work out the perimeter of different shapes. They discovered that shapes with the same area can have different perimeters.

Victorian Biographies

P6/7 wrote fantastic biographies during their Victorian topic. They also learned about the work of Victorian artist William Morris and created some Victorian silhouettes using a graphic design program.

Anger games

P5/6/7 have been looking at different emotions this term and ways to respond and cope when we experience these emotions. After looking at “anger”, the children designed board games to highlight different strategies to use when we get angry.

Popcorn STEM challenge

As part of their learning on capacity and volume, P6/7 were given the challenge of designing and constructing a container that would hold exactly 200 pieces of popcorn. Each group got a cup containing 10 pieces of popcorn which they used for estimating. They were only allowed to use paper, tape, scissors and a ruler. We had lots of different shapes and sizes but well done to Beth and Joy, who were the only group to make a container that held exactly 200 pieces of popcorn. Some others were very close and everyone got to enjoy the popcorn afterwards!

The moral of the story is.....

This term P6/7 have been looking at fables. They acted out familiar fables then wrote their own based on different morals.
