P4/5 were outside enjoying the sunshine today while learning about our emotions. We used the emotion cushions to secretly select one which they would re-create as a group. The other groups then had a go at guessing which feeling or emotion they thought was being represented. As a class we discussed what words might you use to describe that emotion and thought of scenarios when we might feel that emotion.
As part of their World Around Us topic, “Unsinkable”, P6/7 made models of the Titanic in pairs. They all looked fantastic with some very similiar to the real thing!
Number ordering activities.
Have a look at some of the great spelling P2s have been practising.
Children enjoyed an Art and History workshop in Bushmills followed by an exciting trip on the Causeway train.

A magic number square is a grid where every row, column and diagonal add up to the same number. P6/7 were given the challenge of creating a 3x3 magic square using outdoor items where each row, column and diagonal would add up to 15. Great problem solving and team work P6/7!
Today P4/5 were outdoors making multiplication arrays. They used lots of natural resources such as stones, daisies, leaves, twigs, pine cones etc and were challenged to come up with different arrays to make a given number.
P4/5 enjoyed completing some Jubilee themed craft items in class before the long Jubilee bank holiday weekend. They made wooden tealight holders and crowns which they wore to our Royal Jubilee picnic.

We made 2D shapes using sticks and pebbles. The children had to think about the properties of each shape before they made them. Everyone worked really well together and did a great job.
In World Around Us, P6/7 have been learning about volcanoes. They found out how volcanoes form and why they erupt. They made their own volcanoes and eruptions using bicarbonate of soda and vinegar! Great fun but very messy!
Our focus today was learning how to cross the road safely.
Walk with a grown up
Walk, don’t run as you cross
Stop, Look, Listen and Think before you cross the road.
P1 and P2 read the story of ‘The Jolly Postman’. We wrote letters to each other and Mrs Calderwood posted them. On Monday we got a lovely surprise when the Postman delivered our letters.
We have been encouraging P6/7 to enjoy reading and share their love of reading with their peers. Children have been completing an online (Padlet) book wall (book reviews) and each week someone creates a library display of a book they want to share with the class. Well done to everyone for their hard work. Enjoy the books.
P1 and P1 enjoying the new equipment and extended sensory garden.
In World Around Us, P6/7 were finding out about pneumatic systems. They were given the challenge of creating a monster with a moving part. Children used balloons and different syringes to create these fantastic monsters. These monsters had moving eyes, mouths and tongues!
To introduce our new topic we went for a walk around the village of Rasharkin. On our walk we noticed lots of homes, old and new, an old police station, a post office, a chinese takeaway, a beauty salon and a shop. Many thanks to Fullans Eurospar who kindly gave the children some treats on their visit. We finished with a fun trip to the park.
